As billionaire Elon Musk and his team of tech engineers bulldoze through the federal government, agencies are being crippled, employees are being pushed into buyouts, and entire programs are being wiped out. And Musk is doing it all with a grin, a meme, and a Twitter poll.
Musk has turned his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) into a wrecking ball, forcing scores of federal employees onto administrative leave, dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and mocking critics in the process.
Live-Tweeting the Chaos
Musk has been live-tweeting his government takedown in real time, posting nearly 200 times in a 24-hour period, according to ABC News.
With each new agency on the chopping block, he takes to X (formerly Twitter) to mock his critics, whether they are lawmakers, affected employees, or activists.
Earlier today, he laughed off an attempt by Democratic lawmakers to compel him to testify before Congress, responding with:
“How is this reality? Lmaooo.”
Meanwhile, employees of USAID (the U.S. Agency for International Development) and other federal offices are scrambling to adjust as DOGE forces massive budget cuts and wipes out DEI programs entirely.

Musk’s “White House Tech Support” Role
Musk has even updated his X bio to read:
“White House tech support.”
According to his allies, this is the unofficial role he has now adopted as he exerts unprecedented influence over government operations.
To further stoke the fire, Musk polled his 216 million followers on whether DOGE should audit the IRS, offering the following choices:
✔️ Yes
✔️ F Yes
✔️ No

Memes, The Godfather, and The DOGEfather
Musk’s antics aren’t just limited to government takedowns and Twitter polls—he’s also fully leaning into the meme culture that surrounds him.
When a user called him an “Effing legend” for “finding the source code and hacking the system”, Musk responded by posting a photo of a shirt that reads:
“The SYSADMIN.”
For those unfamiliar, this is a popular IT meme that references The Godfather, comparing system administrators to powerful puppet masters.
But Musk wasn’t done.
He later reshared a meme comparing himself directly to The Godfather, and then pinned a post where he reimagined himself as “The DOGEfather.”
The post was a direct response to a video from Michigan Democratic Rep. Melanie Stansbury, who had shared footage from a Democratic protest at the Treasury Department earlier this week.
In true Musk fashion, he mocked the protest by paraphrasing a famous quote from The Godfather:
“She comes to me on this day of my DOGE’s wedding and makes these demands. But does she call me The DOGEfather? Is she even a friend? Buona sera, buono sera.”
What’s Next?
With Musk’s Twitter feed acting as both a wrecking ball and a press release, the future of his federal overhaul remains unpredictable. But one thing is certain:
He’s not slowing down, he’s not backing down, and he’s having the time of his life while doing it.
