LONDON – Ukraine War Negotiations: A meeting between delegations from the United States, Ukraine, and Russia is set to take place in Turkey on Friday, following a day of diplomatic uncertainty.
The U.S. delegation will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, currently in Albania, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who remains in Moscow, will not be in attendance.

Speaking from Abu Dhabi on Friday morning, President Donald Trump announced his desire to meet with Vladimir Putin “as soon as we can set it up” to negotiate an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
“We’re going to do it,” Trump said. “I actually think it’s time for us to do it.”
He added that within “two or three weeks,” the world could become “a much, much safer place.”

Trump also referenced broader global crises, particularly in Gaza, highlighting urgent humanitarian issues.
“A lot of people are starving. A lot of people. There’s a lot of bad things going on,” Trump stated. “We’ve got to get that taken care of.”

A Ukrainian diplomatic source based in Istanbul told media that Kyiv appreciates Trump’s renewed peace push.

“We value President Trump’s genuine effort to end the war and stop the killing. Ukraine itself is the country that wants peace more than anyone else,” the source said.

Trump underscored the devastating human toll of the ongoing conflict:
“Five thousand young people are being killed every single week on average, and we’re going to get it done.”
