A body was found Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, amid the search for a Texas teenager who disappeared on Christmas Eve, authorities said. Camila Mendoza Olmos, 19, was last seen on Wednesday morning, Dec. 24, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said deputies and volunteers had been searching around the clock, and earlier information suggested she was in “imminent danger.” The discovery, he said, was not the outcome authorities and the community had hoped for.
Where the body was found and what officials have said so far
Salazar said the body was located in a field about 100 yards from Mendoza Olmos’ home in northwest Bexar County. He said the body was found shortly before 5 p.m. local time.
“At this point we don’t suspect foul play,” Salazar said during a press briefing. The body has not been officially identified, and the local medical examiner has not yet determined the cause and manner of death, he said.
Clothing and a firearm at the scene
Salazar said the body was found wearing clothing similar to what Mendoza Olmos was believed to be wearing when she went missing. A firearm was also located at the scene, he said.
Salazar added that a firearm belonging to a relative of Mendoza Olmos had been reported missing. Authorities have not determined whether that missing firearm matches the weapon observed at the scene, he said.

Investigators cite indicators of self-harm
Salazar said there were indicators of self-harm and that one theory investigators had been working under during the search was a “fear of self-harm.” He said there were also “indicators of suicidal ideation” and signs of depression that had not been formally diagnosed.
“From what’s being described to us, it sounds like it was a young person going through a very tough time in their life,” Salazar said. Officials emphasized they were awaiting the medical examiner’s findings before making definitive statements about what happened.

Why the area was searched again
Salazar said the field where the body was found had been searched previously. He said authorities with the sheriff’s office and the FBI returned Tuesday to check again because of tall grass and the possibility that something had been missed.
During the search, authorities also released dashcam video from someone driving to work on the morning Mendoza Olmos went missing. Salazar said Tuesday it remains unclear whether the woman seen walking alone in that video was Mendoza Olmos.
