A woman intentionally drove her vehicle through the front entrance of a South Florida federal courthouse after regular hours on Wednesday night, causing an estimated $200,000 in damage, authorities said Thursday.
Police said the vehicle struck the Paul G. Rogers Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in West Palm Beach at around 11 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Damage estimate and what was hit inside the building
Authorities said the damage included the courthouse’s front doors, security equipment, and interior furnishings. Investigators said the crash was intentional.
Arrest and charge
Police said the woman fled the scene but was arrested a short time later. Authorities did not immediately release a motive.
She was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief and was being held on $5,000 bail. Jail records did not list an attorney for her.

Police chief: “Will not be tolerated”
West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo said authorities take incidents like this seriously and that those responsible will be held accountable “to the fullest extent of the law.”
