A Massachusetts college student’s life was cut short just days before graduation after a tragic accident during a senior class trip. Gaurav Jaisingh, a senior at Bentley University, died after falling from a balcony in the Bahamas, according to the university and local police.
University Confirms Student’s Death
Bentley University released a statement confirming the incident and expressing deep sorrow over the loss of Jaisingh, who was in the Bahamas as part of the school’s annual senior trip.
“We share our deepest condolences with Gaurav’s family, friends and loved ones,” the university said in a statement to media. “While local authorities are investigating, it appears Gaurav accidentally fell from a balcony. We will share more information when available while respecting his family’s privacy.”
The university added that counseling and support services are available to students affected by the tragedy.

Police Describe the Incident
The Royal Bahamas Police Force reported that the American male was in a hotel room with roommates when he fell from an upper-level balcony. He was discovered unresponsive on a lower floor and was immediately transported to a hospital. Authorities said Jaisingh succumbed to his injuries while en route to the facility.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to Bahamian authorities.
A Promising Life Remembered
Jaisingh, a native of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, was an active member of the Bentley community. According to his LinkedIn profile, he was involved in Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity, and the university’s South Asian Students Association.
Commencement Goes On Amid Mourning
Bentley University is scheduled to hold its commencement ceremony on Friday. The loss of Jaisingh has cast a shadow over what would have been a celebration of achievement and transition for the Class of 2025.
