Three men were killed and nine others injured after a Brooklyn nightclub shooting erupted early Sunday inside the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights. Police believe multiple gunmen opened fire during a dispute that left dozens of shell casings scattered across the scene.
The New York Police Department confirmed the victims as 35-year-old Jamel Childs, 27-year-old Amadou Diallo, and 19-year-old Marvin St. Louis. Two of the men died in hospitals, while the 19-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chaos Erupts at Taste of the City Lounge
The incident unfolded around 3:27 a.m. when an altercation escalated into gunfire inside the crowded nightclub. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said up to four shooters may have been involved, firing at least 42 rounds from 9mm and .45-caliber weapons.
Nine additional victims, ranging in age from 19 to 61, were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Police later recovered a firearm near Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway, which is being tested to determine its link to the attack.

Possible Gang Connection Under Investigation
Commissioner Tisch said the shooting appears to be gang-related, but she declined to provide further details given the ongoing investigation. Detectives are reviewing security footage and interviewing witnesses to identify the suspects.
“This was a dispute inside a crowded club that led to the shooting. We have multiple shooters involved,” Tisch said at a Sunday press briefing.

Mayor Adams Urges Public Cooperation
New York City Mayor Eric Adams urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
“If you were inside the club, if you heard individuals talking about this shooting, if you witnessed someone fleeing the location — every piece of information will help us solve this crime,” Adams said.
Brooklyn Shooting Marks Rare Spike in NYC Crime
Despite the violence, Tisch noted that shootings in New York City have been on a historic decline. According to NYPD data through August 10, citywide shooting victims dropped by nearly 22% compared to last year, with overall incidents down 20.5%.
“Something like this is, thank God, an anomaly,” Tisch said. “But we’re going to investigate it thoroughly and get to the bottom of what went down.”
