A 14-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly opening fire near a Kentucky high school football shooting incident that caused chaos during a game in Mayfield. The gunfire erupted in the fourth quarter of the annual “Battle of the Birds” football game between Mayfield High School and Graves High School.
Spectators and players ran for cover after multiple shots rang out, as captured in a livestream video by the Red Helmet Sports Network. Players sprinted off the field at Mayfield’s War Memorial Stadium, while fans in the stands ducked and looked around in panic.
One Teen Injured in Shooting
Police confirmed that the shots were fired in the stadium’s parking lot. An 18-year-old, identified as Jordan Riley of Farmington, Kentucky, suffered gunshot wounds to his upper torso.
Riley was airlifted to an out-of-state hospital and was reported to be in stable condition on Sunday, according to Mayfield police.

Police Arrest 14-Year-Old Suspect
The Mayfield Police Department announced the arrest of a 14-year-old boy from Fulton, Kentucky, in connection with the Kentucky high school football shooting.
Authorities said the shooting followed a physical altercation between Riley and another juvenile, during which the suspect discharged his weapon.
The teen has been charged with first-degree assault and is being held at a juvenile detention center.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. Police urged anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact the Mayfield Police Department.
The Kentucky State Police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are assisting in the case.
