A North Carolina woman is wanted for attempted murder after allegedly locking her boyfriend inside a storage unit for several days without food or water, according to police.

Robin Deaton Wanted for Attempted Murder and Kidnapping

Robin Deaton, 52, of Matthews, North Carolina, is facing charges of attempted murder and kidnapping. The Monroe Police Department confirmed on Wednesday that she remains at large.

Authorities say Deaton lured her 51-year-old boyfriend into the storage unit last Thursday, convincing him to crawl to the back to retrieve an item before slamming the door shut. “This is what you get,” she allegedly told him before locking the unit with two locks, leaving him trapped without food, water, or power.

Victim’s Desperate 911 Call Leads to Rescue

The victim managed to call 911 on Monday, four days after being locked inside. In the call, released by Union County Emergency Services, he told dispatchers:

“I’ve been locked in a storage unit for about a week now, and I’ve just now found my phone. My girlfriend locked me in here. She doubled up my lock, and I don’t know how she put me in it, but she put me in here.”

He added that he was struggling to breathe and had nothing to drink. His phone battery was critically low, adding to the urgency of the situation.

Police Respond and Victim Hospitalized

Officers arrived at Cooper Storage in Monroe around 1:15 p.m. Monday and freed the man. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Initially, the crime was listed as false imprisonment. However, following further investigation, detectives sought higher charges for Deaton, including attempted murder and kidnapping.
