An Ohio doctor has been indicted on arson charges after allegedly setting fire to another doctor’s home in December, officials said.
Andrew Campbell, 33, was arrested following an investigation into a Dec. 7 blaze, which authorities determined was “not accidental in nature,” according to police.
On Tuesday, a grand jury formally indicted Campbell on six counts of aggravated arson.
Affair May Be Motive in Fire Investigation
Authorities are now exploring a possible link between the fire and an alleged affair between Campbell’s wife and Dr. Tahir Jamil, whose residence was targeted in the incident.
According to a police report obtained by media, Jamil told investigators that he and Campbell’s wife had engaged in a romantic relationship from late July to early August 2024. On Aug. 7, she allegedly informed Jamil that her husband had discovered their affair.
It remains unclear how this revelation may have played into the alleged arson, but officials are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.

University of Toledo Places Campbell on Leave
A spokesperson for the University of Toledo confirmed that Campbell is a fellow in the institution’s Hematology-Oncology program.
Following news of his indictment, the university placed him on unpaid administrative leave.
“The University will decline further comment at this time as authorities conduct their investigation,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
As the case unfolds, Campbell faces serious legal consequences that could impact both his career and personal life. Authorities have not disclosed whether additional charges or suspects may emerge as the investigation continues.
