Authorities are searching for a motive after a workplace shooting at an Ohio manufacturing plant left one person dead and five others injured, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Shooting at KDC/One Facility
The New Albany Police Department responded to an active shooter report around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a KDC/One facility, a company specializing in beauty product manufacturing.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim deceased inside the building. Five other victims were transported to local hospitals in unknown conditions.
Police successfully evacuated 150 employees from the facility without further injuries.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Authorities identified the suspect as 28-year-old Bruce Reginald Foster III, an employee at the facility. Foster fled the scene just before police arrived but was apprehended Wednesday morning at a residence in Columbus, Ohio.
Motive Remains Unclear
During a news conference Wednesday, New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones stated that the motive remains under investigation. Employees interviewed after the attack reported no prior conflicts involving Foster.
“Nobody had reported that there was any conflict or that [Foster] was in trouble at work,” Jones said.
The victims were all co-workers of Foster, and authorities believe they likely knew each other.

Community Response and Investigation
New Albany Mayor Sloan Spalding emphasized that the city is a safe community, but acknowledged that workplace violence can occur anywhere.
Investigators revealed that Foster had legally purchased the firearm used in the attack in September 2024.
Police continue to gather evidence and conduct interviews as they work to determine what led to the shooting.
